Automated Evaluation of Fibre Waviness in Composites
Transform NDT have developed a suite of exciting new software analysis tools for automated evaluation of ultrasonic data to detect and analyse in-plane and out-of-plane fibre waviness in composite structures. The tools are built on world class research from Bristol University’s NDT of Composites Research team led by Prof. Robert Smith. Tom Marshall and Richard Freemantle of Transform NDT coded the Bristol research into an industrial software platform which can be used for inspection, evaluation and analysis of safety critical composite aerostructures. The waviness tools are now commercially available through Transform NDT’s standard inspection platform and can be deployed in real-time with our automated robotic systems or used off-line to analyse previously captured inspection data.
